Information About Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin that is also known as the sunshine vitamin. It is most generally obtained from the sun and from some few different foods. A regular 10-15 minutes of exposure to sunlight can produce enough vitamins for the day. Also there are very few foods that contained vitamin D in it, hence it is generally better for one to expose him to sun rather than depend on foods. There are various health benefits that can be obtained from this vitamin.

Vitamin C as an antioxidant

Slice an apple into half, and it turns brown. A copper penny suddenly becomes green, or an iron nail when left outside, will rust. What do all these events have in common? These are examples of a process called oxidation. If the sliced apple is dipped in a lemon juice, however, the rate at which the apple turns brown is slowed. It is because the Vitamin C in the lemon juice slows the rate of oxidative damage.
